It was 6:50AM, and Dark had just arrived at school. The first class starts at 7:30AM, so he had plenty of time to organize his laptop's files. He still had to download the video he had promised he'd show his class and his teacher, but that wouldn't be a problem, as his school had a really fast Wi-Fi. After organizing his files for the next class, and downloading the video, the first class was about to start. Everyone entered the classroom, followed by the entering of a respected, yet nice teacher - a female Golden Eagle who all students seemed to like, due to her calmness and how she could easily explain a subject. She always managed to explain whatever was necessary in less time than she was actually given, which meant all students would have some free time for whatever they felt like doing. After greeting her students, she announced that one of them would get a scholarship at a major university. The announcement obviously made all of the students really excited, and the teacher didn't take too long to announce that Dark was the chosen one. He was called by the teacher to go and pick the invite by the university, and as he did so, he thanked both his teacher and his classmates for the excellent education he was able to get with them. After that, they'd get a normal class, but Dark would get a free short flight to the city the university was located after this class. This made him very excited, as he'd get to meet students from other countries, who are also at the same level he is.

"Please not me," Etryl thought. "Please not me..." He did not want the attention of being selected for this. He was apprehensive about even going there. "And the student selected for an international scholarship at a prestigious university is... Etryl!" "Well, bummer" Etryl thought.
Etryl felt the cold eyes of everyone in the class baring down on him, judging him. "Now look what you've done, they're all jealous and they hate you!" He thought. He started panicking. "Don't be silly!" Another voice in his head said, "this is a great opportunity! Take it!" Etryl gulped, and shyly stood up. He walked to the front of the class. In the next 5 minutes, he made up a speech on the spot about how grateful he was to be in this class, and how thankful he was to his teacher and fellow classmates. No one heard anything; they weren't even listening, apart from his teacher. His speech ended with the loud applause of one person. Etryl was then taken out of class by his teacher.
"Now," she said, "tomorrow you need to board the plane in the early afternoon, it is essential that..." "I know, it's okay, I know the drill," Etryl cut her off. His teacher was not convinced. "Etryl," she continued, "I know how you feel about this. I know your struggles. But I think you should..." "No, I'm fine," Etryl cut her off again, "Please don't worry about me. I want to do this. Honestly, I'm fine." His teacher paused, and then half-smiled. "I hope you're okay. Best of luck." And then she returned to her class. Etryl's smile instantly vanished from his face. He didn't want to do this. He was so nervous. Etryl slowly started walking away. "How did you even get this opportunity," he thought to himself, "you're a fucking idiot!" Etryl sighed. "I know." Etryl wondered if his negative thoughts would ever go away. If he would ever be okay. "You'll never be okay," his thoughts replied. Etryl exited the school, and walked home, preparing for his flight.

Meanwhile, Dark was very excited for this. He couldn't wait to get to know all the other people he could share his knowledge with, and even learn new things. This was the greatest opportunity he's ever had, as he could finally be rewarded for all the things he has happily learned. As the class ended, Hannah, the teacher, went to Dark and asked him about how he's feeling about the opportunity he's given - in german, as she usually likes to talk to him in this idiom.
"Also, sind Sie für die Gelegenheit, die Sie gegeben haben aufgeregt?", she asked.
"Definitiv", he readily answered.
"Freut mich zu kennen. Ich werde dein Lehrer an der Universität, zu", she said.
"Oh, das ist großartig! Ihre Klassen sind immer die größten", Dark said. Their conversation went for a good while, until both noticed they had to go. They would then come home, and get prepared for the flight that awaited for them.

Etryl arrived at the terminal. He had managed to lug himself out of his bed, get ready, and travel to the airport somehow. Alone with his thoughts and worries, it seemed like it he was waiting to board his flight for days. Etryl was extremely apprehensive about the whole thing, and he was extremely anxious about the journey that was about to unfold. "This is an exciting new chapter in your life!" His teacher had said to him last night on the phone, "take care, stay safe, and be happy!" How he wished he could do at least one of those things. Eventually, his plane was opened, and he hopped aboard.
With a loud sigh, he collapsed in his seat, after clumsily stuffing his carry-on luggage into the overhead compartment. Etryl looked to his left, and saw a young couple of smaller dinosaurs look at the seats next to him. He then heard something along the lines of, "that's okay, we'll just sit somewhere else" before they moved on. Etryl was shocked at how rude this was, but almost immediately after he forgave them, thinking he would have done the same. "You know," he thought, "this might actually be okay." Etryl started to think more positively for a couple of seconds, before his mindset was interrupted by a loud squawk in his left ear.
"Hi there!" The raven said. Etryl was startled, and didn't reply from shock. "Wait, what?" He thought, "Is that raven actually trying to... talk to me?" Such a thought was so unusual that Etryl said nothing, perplexed at this realisation. "Oh, I'm sorry," the raven continued. "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" Etryl was even more confused. "Why is he speaking German? What is even going on?" He was so out of it, he still said nothing! The raven seemed disappointed. "Português?" he questioned, "nederlands?" Etryl finally stammered "I got you the first time!" "Well, why didn't you say so?" The raven asked. "I don't really know," Etryl said, "maybe I'm just not used to someone talking to me? I'm really sorry about that." The raven sat down next to Etryl, and began to chat.

The raven, named Dark, asked him many questions, as Etryl seemed to get less shy by the moment, he realised this one fellow bird was rather intellectual, and not willing to make any sort of fun of the young Allosaurus fragilis. As they talked, Dark asked - "are you going to the same university as I?", the now more-polite-than-shy Etryl answered in a more comfortable tone - "if you're referring to the University of Uhoeskington, then yes, I am". Dark nodded, showing that is the university he was talking about. As they talked, Dark suggested Etryl to look down the massive airplane's window. As Etryl looked at the tall mountains below, Dark explained that he visited the area during his winter holidays at the age of 13. The two had a fluent conversation, which was suddenly, yet politely interrupted by Hannah, Dark's teacher. She joined their conversation, which went from one topic to another, with the occasional foreign language note.

Etryl did not really know what he was feeling. He was happy that someone was talking to him, very happy actually. But, he soon noticed he was able to add anything even relatively substantial to the conversation; it was always Dark and Hannah initiating the talking. His thoughts as always, started to drift towards the negative side... "Wow," he thought, "I am so boring. I can't say a thing. How can they even sit here and talk to me?" Etryl's confidence and mood began to plummet immediately, but on the way down, something happened. Etryl remembered his friend from years ago, the one who helped him, and how she would be upset at his thoughts right now. He didn't want that. "You know what?" he thought, "no. You can hate yourself later. Right here, right now, you are not slipping down. You are going to make conversation, and at least try to have a friend again." And so he began talking.
By the time the flight was over, it seemed that Etryl finally at least had an acquaintance. He was actually slightly proud of himself, and although he knew this feeling wouldn't last for long it was really, really nice. After stepping onto the tarmac, and then entering the terminal, Dark and Etryl exchanged goodbyes as they went their separate ways. Etryl quickly bought a coffee (which tasted like shit) and exited the airport. He had a quick look around his new environment, but decided he had had enough interaction today, so he soon called over a cab and took the short ride to the university.
When he arrived, he was stunned by the size and complexity of the building. It seemed like the perfect place to study and perfect any skill or talent, and Etryl quickly became kind of excited. But as the cab drove off, Etryl suddenly filled with dread. He had no idea what to do now! And Dark wasn't here to help! Logically, Etryl began to have a panic attack...

The two didn't know they'd be going to the same university. However, Dark had to go follow a different way along with his teacher, since he already had planned his routes. The two spoke german as they got closer to the university, and as they got a look at the large building, the two looked at it excitedly. The car was parked in a reserved parking lot, and they headed towards the university, where they'd identify themselves as being both invited by the university. Etryl didn't expect to actually see them at the immense reception area.

A couple minutes earlier...
Etryl couldn't calm down; he just couldn't. No ammount of deep breathing or counting to 10 would work. "What the hell?" he thought / yelled to himself, "Now? Really? Wow, what the fuck man." Etryl was ashamed, but couldn't concentrate on his thoughts; he was putting all his energy into not looking visibly shaken. He began clumsily walking towards the reception.
Once he arrived there, he actually began to sense the scale of the place. The reception area alone was absolutely gigantic, with many, many bustling students frantically scrambling from class to class. While taking all this in, he stepped back, gasping with awe, and accidentally knocked someone behind him. He heard the loud tumble of books and papers on the floor. "Sorry! I'm so sorry!" He burst out without turning around, to save himself embarrassment (how would this even work?) "Wow, thanks, jerk!" The stranger behind said. Etryl tried to spit out another apology, perhaps a bit more sincere, but his lips weren't moving. He remained silent until they left. "Wow, nice first impression!" He thought. But before he could begin to think negatively again, something caught his eye. A dinosaur, far away, looked awfully like... No, it couldn't be. "Please don't be..." Etryl whimpered aloud, "C'mon god..."
"Etryl!" He was stunned back into consciousness by a loud yell from behind. It was Dark! Thank god! Etryl excitedly rushed over. "Thank jesus you're here!" Etryl said, "I thought I would never find out where to go! I was panicking pretty bad, not gonna lie." Dark laughed, with a very slight hint of concern, and then started to explain how things at the University work...

As they had been officially registered as students in the University of Uhoeskington, they would get an entire week to get to know the place. They hanged around, talking to eachother, making remarks in different languages. They went to the sports area, which was incredibly technologically advanced. There was an absolutely gigantic, almost completely transparent, tempered glass layer that covered a mind-blowingly large field. The spherical glass cover had several, heavy steel structures around it, which supported illumination, used during night, and supported unnoticeable air conditioning devices, which automatically set the temperature to the most comfortable possible, based on complex calculations using thermal data from people inside the glass structure, and the structure itself. The air conditioning devices also regulate oxygen levels based on the demand; they collect data from activity in the area, so they can regulate ideal oxygen percentage, allowing those representing the university in sports, or just merely doing sports, to take much more time to actually get tired. The grass field was perfectly cared for, and the soil was comfortable, avoiding injuries. As Dark, Etryl and Hannah entered the sports area, they started exploring the place, and checking the services the stadium could offer.

Etryl and Dark had a lot of fun and chatter as they explored the campus. All of the facilities, Etryl thought, were incredible. They were all amazingly functional, and were all very technologically advanced. The designs of the rooms and different areas were all so modern and complex. For example, all of the televisions, computers, and other devices ran at 4K resolution and 120 fps. All of the tables had LED lighting underneath for night time studying, and power outlets built into them. The kitchen was especially amazing, stocked with all kinds of refreshing drinks and exotic foods Etryl couldn't have imagined. And, the coffee was fantastic! Although looking grand and relatively old fashioned on the outside, the university was painted and designed very expertly minimalist inside. The classrooms all had interactive lessons, projected onto the walls, and everyone was given a complimentary laptop with the highest possible specs for study (this was payed for by the scholarship apparently). Etryl was so amazed by all this, that he basically just gawped the whole time they were looking around.
Once night time came, and Etryl was comfortable with his mind map of the campus, he finally arrived at his room. "Thanks for today," he said quietly to Dark, "I enjoyed it." Dark was visibly tired, and so only slightly smiled and nodded before shuffling down the hallway and towards his room. Etryl was pretty happy at the moment. "Well, at least I know my way around the place now!" He smiled, as he turned towards his room door. Taped to it was a map, with a note that read: "Hello, Insert Name Here Etryl! We understand you may not know your way around campus yet, so please take this map. No need to wander around for hours learning your place when you can just use this! We hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Please Note: Class starts tomorrow effective immediately, so be prepared!" Etryl sighed, "you've got to be kidding!" and entered his room.
It was spectacular! Everything he could have ever wanted. A nice, comfortable bed, with an extendable 4K television built into the wall next to it. A huge desk, designed like the others, but with much more room and slits for holding down notes. Also on the desk was a brand new set of pens and pencils for assignments. The room was carpeted dark grey, with light coloured walls and futuristic window designs with glass that changed tint depending on the time of day. The bathroom was small, but clean and simple; perfect. This was perfect. "Oh my god!" Etryl thought, "I might actually like it here!"
After setting up his amplifier with his bass and keyboard, and unpacking all of his other belongings, Etryl decided to grab a quick coffee before bed. After he got it, on his way back, he glanced at the time on his watch. 1:35am. He nearly dropped his coffee! "Oh my god, I have to start class tomorrow! Get to bed moron!" He thought. He chugged his coffee and half sprinted towards his room. As he arrived, and was shuffling the key around in the lock, he heard a scamper and glanced to his right. He got a brief glimpse of another dinosaur walking past, at the far end of the hallway. It was her.
All of his positivity vanished, just like that. His excitement was gone, instantly. He no longer fumbled with the door handle, instead he composed himself and simply slid the key into the lock and opened the door. He entered his room, shut the door, and dived into bed. His bad thoughts came back. "Wow, seriously?" He thought. "You should be happy to see her again, don't you think? She helped you so much!" "Why are you sad? How could you possibly... You still haven't, have you?" Etryl didn't respond to his mind, instead just gulped. "Wow you fuckwit. It's been years. Get over it. Jesus you suck, just kill yourself already honestly. Then I wouldn't have to deal with you!" Usually, Etryl could handle these stupid thoughts easily. But today was not his day. "You're really going to do this? Oh no, it's been so long. Grow up, please." He tucked his head under the covers, and began whimpering.

Etryl, perhaps unsurprisingly, was up almost all night. Once he had woken up, he simply decided that the events of last night were due to built up anxiety and not the beginning of a new low. Anyway, since he woke up late, it was a quick rush to class, and straight into intense work. His first class was Biochemistry Unit 3, which was not with Dark. He received a large booklet, containing all of the assessments and exams they would be doing throughout the semester. The work load was looking to be huge, especially for just one subject, but Etryl thought he could handle it. After a brief introduction, study began. His teacher, whose name he had not been listening to, just started drawing up diagrams of DNA on the board expecting people to know about it. Etryl did, but clearly some other students didn't. They twiddled pencils around in their fingers, while pretending to look lost in thought and deeply concentrating, which they failed at. By the end of the two period lesson, Etryl could have sworn he had filled up half of his note book for Biochemistry already. He left to go get a morning snack.
"Hey! How are you?" Etryl yelled to Dark, as he sat down close by. "Jesus, you don't need to yell, I'm literally right here," he replied, "Yeah, I'm good. How about you? Are you okay?" Dark's tone of voice was a little too sympathetic. "Yeah, I am," Etryl responded. "Why?" "Your eyes are pretty red, that's all." 'Oh shit' Etryl thought. "Yeah, got some soap in my eye in the shower this morning. Stung like hell. Can't believe I've been walking around looking like this for so long!" Dark and Etryl had another lengthy conversation, mostly about their new classes. It seems that they had both enjoyed their first classes, and were looking forward to periods 3 and 4. "Well, sorry to cut this short, but I should be leaving for Music class now," Etryl said. "That's fine, good luck!" Dark replied. And that was that. Etryl walked off to the lounge area, to grab another coffee before his next class. While he was waiting for his coffee to be ready, someone behind him shouted "Hey!" Etryl turned around, and his stomach dropped 100 feet.
"Etryl!" Chrome yelled. She was so excited to see him! "I didn't know you were coming here!" She proceeded to give him the best hug an Allosaurus can achieve. Etryl said nothing. "Long time no see!" she continued. "A very long time," Etryl agreed. "Too long," Chrome finished. She then asked, "So how long have you been here?" "Literally one day, just had my first class and stuff" Etryl replied. "And how are you finding it?" Chrome persisted. "Too much work, but at least it's enjoyable I guess," Etryl said while shrugging. Chrome giggled. "You'll get used to it." She noticed his face. "So, how are you going? With, you know?" Etryl said nothing. "Are you okay?" "Yeah I'm perfectly fine, thank you" Etryl quickly said. "Etryl, your eyes are..." "Yes, I know. I got some soap in them, it's nothing honestly." Chrome was very unconvinced, but kept it to herself. "Why didn't you ever talk to me?" She asked. Etryl looked ashamed, before murmuring "I didn't want to bother you." "Don't be so dumb," She replied, "how could you think that you'd be bothering me?" Right then, Etryl's expression seemed to light up a bit, and they had a short conversation after this about their classes. Etryl found out that he was her inspiration to pursue a career in psychology, which he was flattered by, and Chrome learned that Etryl was planning to go into medicine. But before more could be said, and before the coffee could be finished, class was beginning again. "I'll talk to you later, Etryl!" Chrome smiled as she hurried away. Etryl smiled back, before heading off to his next class, which was with Dark.

Dark was gonna take a german class along with Etryl, and Hannah was there too. The teacher made it incredibly easy to learn, even for those with more difficulty, and it seemed like everyone was gonna leave that class speaking fluent german. Dark noticed, however, that Hannah was a bit bored - more like paying attention to the teacher to correct any errors, however. She would occasionally correct his accent, which gave her credit for her extremely perfect german. It seemed like if she was literally the one who invented the language. The teacher finished that class earlier than expected, giving the students free time. Dark suggested doing something at the university's stadium, seeing as he was quite in the mood for some physical activity, though he didn't really know what they'd do there, but they would figure out for sure.

So the three headed off towards the stadium to do some sport. Obviously, they would try and join in a game of soccer, seeing as how that was Etryl's favorite sport and Dark had also mentioned he enjoyed it. It must have been an odd sight having all these different creatures playing a game of soccer together, and it was equally difficult to work out who was on what team. Hannah joined in, but not for long, as she went off to do something else that she would not specify. Meanwhile, Dark and Etryl worked together to carry the team, leading them in a victory. However, they obviously were not the only contributors, as their whole team was made of great players. As they were celebrating, Etryl caught a brief glimpse of the universities soccer coach looking at their team. He immediately dismissed the idea, however, that this was for any other reason but to mock their playstyle. And so, after the celebration, the team all split up to go grab something to eat / drink before the last two classes of the day.
Dark and Etryl sat down at a table, and began discussing German class. Etryl refused to eat for reasons Dark could not get out of him, but instead just grabbed another Coffee. Dark said that he was hungry, but could not be bothered going to get something. "What did you think?" Dark asked. "Excellent!" Etryl replied, "the teacher was engaging, and it was hilarious seeing her constantly corrected by a student!" Dark laughed in agreement. "She taught so well, seriously dude," Etryl continued, "I've never seen a class learn that quick!" Dark agreed. After Etryl had had another sip of coffee, Dark mentioned "and we even got free time at the end of class when it finished early! Much better than sitting there for 10 minutes waiting for class to end!" Etryl nodded aggressively. "Yesss! And..." Etryl was interrupted by a hug from behind.
"Hey!" Chrome said. "How have you been?" "Good, thanks!" Etryl replied a little too enthusiastically ("Stupid, stupid, stupid!" Etryl thought to himself here) "Yourself?" "I've also been pretty good. Was just doing laps on the oval in the stadium when I saw your amazing soccer game! Thought I'd come over and congratulate you on the win!" Etryl blushed ("Idiot! Stop!" He thought to himself here) "Why thank you very much. Couldn't have done it without Dark here, though." Chrome looked at Dark, and then back at Etryl. Etryl seemed confused, but then he had a realization. "Oh my, I'm so sorry! Dark, this is Chrome, and Chrome, obviously, this is Dark." Greetings were exchanged. "Anyways guys, I should be heading off," Chrome said, "I've got a PE class on next and can't be late. Nice to meet you Dark, see you Etryl!" And she was gone.
"Who was that?" Dark asked. Etryl looked down; "Chrome, an old friend. Only met her here again yesterday." Dark was intrigued by Etryl's body actions. "She seems really nice. So how long have you known her?" Etryl looked at Dark, and answered "A while." Dark wasn't happy with this answer, but obviously Etryl was uncomfortable so he tried to make his next question less direct. "How do you know each other?" Etryl sighed quite heavily. He said to Dark, "I'm really sorry, I just don't want to talk about this kinda subject right now. I am really sorry, Dark. Can we move on?" Dark was very shocked at Etryl's feelings toward the subject, and realized quickly there must be something in that relationship Etryl would rather not talk about. Dark retreated from the touchy subject, and began talking about their next class together; mathematics. Etryl lit up again, and they talked about their expectations and hopes for math class that year. And soon, lunch break was over, and maths class began.

Their soccer match was very interesting; they had many intelligent rushes, and they seemed to easily cut through the opposing team's defense - their goalkeeper, however, was very respectable. Very tactical allignment, even more considering they weren't prepared. The highly cooperative team contributed a lot for that 3-0 win, with one goal from Dark, and two from Etryl who, before the match, thought he was going to perform in a disappointing manner. A very late goal from Etryl, assisted by Dark, catched even the University's coach's attention, because no one saw it coming. The defending adversaries in a rush had accidentally kicked it out of the goal line, giving Etryl and Dark's team a corner kick. Dark stood at the right side, from where he received a pass. He approached the goal, and when the goalkeeper went towards the ball to catch it, Dark passed it to Etryl, who was next to the left post, lightly touching the ball with his knee, scoring the third goal for their team. It was a beautiful win.
However, as the match ended, they would soon get another class, which would also have Hannah in it - the mathematical genius was ready to shine again with her amazing, and often hilarious corrections. "This cube I'm drawing here is exactly one metre, and weighs 8 kilograms. If it were to be scaled to 5 metres, how much would it weigh?", the teacher asked. "You know that one, we learned it together. It's your chance to shine again!", Dark whispered to Hannah, with a wink soon after. Hannah answered the question with ease;
"You scale it isometrically.
8*(5/1)³ = 1,000, whereas... 8 = cube's weight 5 = the size you are scaling it to 1 = the original size
This also applies to scaling objects down."
This was nothing, however, compared to the extensive mathematical knowledge Hannah has. The other students were very impressed, nonetheless.
